Our Giving is Guided by our Mission, Especially Through This Crisis

DOING OUR PART TO SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITIES THRU THE PANDEMIC
April 14, 2020

Doing our part to support local needs in the areas where we live and work is something we are passionate about. We continually strive to make a positive impact on our communities around the world by contributing funds to organizations that can immediately improve the quality of lives during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Mosaic Company, The Mosaic Company Foundation and The Mosaic Institute in Brazil are making investments to help feed the hungry and provide critical supplies to farmers and neighbors.

In Florida, one of our 14 Goals for Food partners is Meals On Wheels of Tampa. This organization delivers hot, nutritious, low-sodium meals to the homes of senior and homebound adults. Most recipients live alone and are disabled, elderly or otherwise unable to prepare meals for themselves. Volunteers may also spend time with them because this is sometimes the only human contact they receive. Our donations during the COVID-19 pandemic are a continuation of our history of supporting Meals On Wheels of Tampa and their generous mission. Last year, we contributed $500,000 toward their new building so they can serve even more of Central Florida’s often forgotten population.

And one of the ways we’re giving back in Brazil is by helping at-risk families in communities near our operations access food and hygiene products during this crisis. We are purchasing 20,000 food baskets and 30,000 hygiene and personal care kits from local, small businesses to be donated to families in need. The baskets will include essential items like rice, beans, oil, sugar, salt, fruits and vegetable, and the kits will include sanitizers, cleaning products and more. The baskets and kits will be distributed by the Mosaic Brazil Volunteer Program and Governmental Social Protection Agencies over the next four weeks. Supporting local businesses and helping to feed and protect these families is critical to the future health of this area.

Our mission is to help the world grow the food it needs, so supporting food banks and other food-focused organizations and causes, based on local needs, helps us do just that. We’re proud to help, because we truly are in this together.
